An all in one techno music production studio, this machine has it all. The LFO and resonant filters allow quick and easy sound manipulation. The new D-Beam allows you to randomly tweak your sounds by passing your hand over an infrared beam! It has a great sequencer for building your songs (with groove quantizing and part level faders for mixing) as well as many idea catchers like the phrase sampler and arpeggiator.

This is an all-in-one music machine that's great for DJ's or anybody else who wants to create slamming dance tracks. Designed as a stand alone machine, they do not work quite as well when incorporated into a multi-synth keyboard rig. I love it. It was my frist musical machine. The sound has character. You know when your listening a 505. You learn to recognize his sound. The programming of this Groovebox is not so difficult, but takes time to learn how to use it properly. My only complain about that is, in case of my machine, the pressing buttons at the right half of the machine are too hard to press. Apparently in the assembly Roland used 2 kind of different switches. I'm seriosly thinking in replace all of the switches.

Anyway, you don't know you want a MC-505 until you have it!!!

hey all... my d-beam has mysteriously stopped working... has anyone ever had to get one fixed?? is it possible?? i'm tempted to open her up and have a look, but wouldn't mind a heads up if it's not worth the effort!!

Recently it's become one of the sequencing gears that I often use, besides those MPC boxes. Great capability of midi sync mode wouldn't let me down. Excepts when hooking up into my Moog's SP via Midi. These units don't seem they communicate with each other... !!!???
