Waldorf Pulse

The Waldorf Pulse is a monophonic synthesizer equipped with three oscillators and an arpeggiator. Its 100 patch programs are divided into 59 presets, 40 user sounds and one random sound. In addition to some standard modulations, four freely routable modulation units with selectable source, amount and destination give almost unlimited possibilities for analog bass and lead synth sounds.

On the Pulse+ model, there is a built-in MIDI to CV converter with CV/Gate input and output for communicating with your old analog gear. All parameter changes are sent and received as MIDI controller messages. There are up to 16 modulation sources, 4 routable modulation units with adjustable source, amount and destination parameters, 6 knobs and 4 buttons for convenient editing. This and a lot more puts the Waldorf Pulse a class of its own. It is used by Hardfloor, 808 State, Sneaker Pimps, Nine Inch Nails, Moby, Jimmy Edgar, and Bushflange.

I've used this synth for bass and leads on all of my albums. Here's a song with Pulse bass and various psychedelic Pulse textures: http://boyeatsdrummachine.bandcamp.com/track/constellation

brageboogie is totally right - this is the best bang for you buck as far as analog monosynths go. I would (and did!) take this over a voyager any day. It's super fat, clean, gritty, metallic... very versatile for a conventional (non-modular) monosynth. Get one and don't let it go. My problem now is that I want more of them to stack for a polyPulse.

Best 3 osc analog midi monosynth for the money, no doubt. Super sharp analog sounds, it cuts through everything. Filter may seem a little boring until you make all the right envelope adjustments, then it really comes to life. Negative vcf keytracking should be on all synths! Those who claim this sounds sterile or digital should take heed to the following saying: Those who say don't know; and those who know don't say. This is about as analog as a samurai sword cutting of your arms. Pure electricity and a 'steely' presence, compared to a moog or se-1, which are more 'woody'. Highly recommended!!!! Deserves a full-blown 5 stars.
