Yamaha CS2x

The second generation of the popular CS1x synthesizer is back in a bold and bright new Analog Modeling synth - the CS2x. Many new improvements and enhancements have been made. Polyphony has doubled to 64 voices and there's 16MB of sampled waveforms! There are 64 resonant 24dB filters! The Arpeggiator now holds 40 patterns for animating your sounds. All functions are MIDI capable, even the Arpeggiator can transmit its pattern data to other synths or sequencers! There is even a direct TO-HOST connector for direct hook-up to your computer.

The CS2x is perfect for studio work as well as live performance. Plenty of semi-dedicated and assignable knobs are available for real time analog style editing of all parameters at all times. The ultra-cool Memory Scene buttons from the CS1x are back on the CS2x and can memorize up to 2 current edit parameter settings. The two scenes can also be morphed via the Mod-wheel. Scene memories are saved with your current patch in one of 256 user patches. The CS2x sounds great and is totally suited for making great dance music with lots of hands on control for animated and evolving synth sounds with digital clarity and lots of control! It's been used by Depeche Mode.

If you like the sound of goasia....that's a good enough reason for buying a csx2.Have a look on youtube & type goasua.I sure wish they'd had thees things like the roland mc's or thees diffrent type of synths & was to teach us how to play like goasia or khetzal or all them other greats who do all that melodic eastern stuff & goa/psytrance sounds.

The CSx1,2 & 6 were really made for dance & maybe geared tiwards that way...yet i love the csx2 & use it as part of my collecion for doing melodic psytrance & goa.I really like the csx series & is great for dance, the only thing they lack is drum patterns & the storage space capacity.I liked the idea with the csx6 that you ciould put in 2 plg boards which was a really good idea.

I own one, it has some rather pleasant sounds, and a few bad ones. I don't think I am using mine to full capability though. I love the effect this synth puts out when having appregio on and turning up the release.

I would be interested in its MID capabilities. Can you do split keyboard on this and send notes out on separate channels? A refiew says that performances can be 13 part mutitimbral
It retails at a good price used and I'd buy one if I can use it as a multitimbral controller for my Waldorf Blofeld. The two should be unstoppable together at creating huge sounding layers. :)
