Yamaha CS-5

Yamaha CS-5 Image

The CS-5 may be a lower-end CS series synthesizer from Yamaha but it still has all you need for vintage analog bass and synth effects at a very affordable price! The CS-5 is a single-oscillator monophonic analog synthesizer with classic filter, envelope and modulation controls. It features 37 full-sized keys, a multi-mode 12 dB/Oct resonant filter, an LFO with sample and hold, and an external audio input you can route through the VCF or VCA sections. The CS-5 is a very flexible and modulate-able analog synth that is quite capable of warm analog bass and bubbly synth effects! The absence of patch storage, MIDI and velocity are just reminders that the CS-5 is old - it's Vintage! It's been used by Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode, Richard Barbieri and the Sneaker Pimps.

Where would Plymstock's favourite lullaby skiffle band have been without the trusty CS5? Great bubbly sounds, classic wind noise nad great effects, as heard on "The Arty Party at Phallus Palace" LP and others. Great synth, great sounds.

Ah the CS-5 My favorite analog synthesizer (its my first) I love the audio possibilities with this little guy, I loved her so much I got a sister for her, now I have two of them. Great for growler using the sample and hold, the LFO speed is amazing, it is just an amazing little piece of machinery.

I love the CS5, bought it as it was cheap and was pleasantly surprised with the sounds coming from it!

I love the CS-5.
It's got a great sound, really heavy bass with the resonance turned up and the filter right down. It's great for doom/drone.

Although it is supposed to be a entry level Monosynth it does some great analog sounds and external sound processing.
Speedy LFO for some excellent "ringmod" like modulation on VCO. Budget monosynth but not a budget sound.
Get 2 to and join them via CV/Gate or connect to other CS series like the CS10 or 15...
A+ sounding instrument.
