Yamaha CS-5

Yamaha CS-5 Image

The CS-5 may be a lower-end CS series synthesizer from Yamaha but it still has all you need for vintage analog bass and synth effects at a very affordable price! The CS-5 is a single-oscillator monophonic analog synthesizer with classic filter, envelope and modulation controls. It features 37 full-sized keys, a multi-mode 12 dB/Oct resonant filter, an LFO with sample and hold, and an external audio input you can route through the VCF or VCA sections. The CS-5 is a very flexible and modulate-able analog synth that is quite capable of warm analog bass and bubbly synth effects! The absence of patch storage, MIDI and velocity are just reminders that the CS-5 is old - it's Vintage! It's been used by Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode, Richard Barbieri and the Sneaker Pimps.

ive just bought one of these off ebay for £194.was very dissapointed when it arrived with a serious problem.when turning power on there is a high pitch sound until i press a key then that key will sustain or hold till the next key is pressed and then the same thing happens again or power is switched off.im puting it in to get sorted so we'll see....

..bought 2 of these for reasonable prices, sound amazing, truly one of the most underrated analog synths. 2 points rated from vse is a joke, especially when crappy an1x gets 5 points..
but thanks to these opinions they are still affordable!
I had a moog prodigy once..the moog was inferior in every aspect! and not to speak of the modeling synths..
If you find one, buy. you will not regret.

This is a great if you are looking for a simple mono synth. Sounds very smooth and different from my Moog, ARP and Oberheims. its a throw in-between. There are built like tanks as well and are readable in low light situations. Keys feel great as well. They are at great prices as well.. Check out the photos on www.mirazmusik.com
