Yamaha RM1x Image

The RM1x is a great new pattern based instant dance music machine! It sounds great! The patterns are perfect and inspiring forms of trance, house, hardcore and more with tons of great analog-like sounds and drum kits. The RM1x also features plenty of effects, filters, knobs, and MIDI control. The patterns have a whopping 16 parts (that you can drop-in or out in real-time performances) for lavish and professional productions. Making dance music has never been easier!

For those of you who want to get a little deeper into creating your own tracks, patterns and sounds, there is more. As if the awesome preset patterns aren't enough for you, creating your own 'phrases' is easy. You can modify a phrase's variation, instruments, sounds, tempo, filtering, LFO, and effects until you've morphed it into something of your own. Then store it into one of the 50 user patches. Creating an entire song is also pretty easy. Knobs, mutes, and patterns can be changed on the fly or meticulously programmed in. For the best all-in-one music box that will make you famous for a day - chose the RM1x over the rest! It is used by Apollo 440, Crystal Distortion, and Signal Electrique.

After eyeing it for years I finally took the jump and bought one. It being a Yamaha, I was expecting some manual digging, but I still wasn't prepared for the baffling layout and structure. It might be great, and some obviously use it to great effect, but my brain just isn't wired like Yamaha's, so I sold it and got an MPC 2000 XL - a totally different beast, but at least its sequencer is easy to grasp without even glancing at any manual. If you can try it out and like it, this is easily one of the best sequencers in existence. Otherwise, just dream of what could have been and move on.

@ elias yeah you can !! it's pretty useful to sequence a bassline or something and then let your external synth play that sequence.
it's fun, especially for performances & jams !!

Bought one of Ebay recently after reading some reviews. Great piece of kit. Great fun. Perfect for just banging out some loops which I then multitrack. Really solid synth bass sounds and crisp drum kits. I found the interface no more ticky than some of the other kit I have, once you get used to it, it's easy. Get one if you can.

I like this unit above other like Remix devices, one reason...it has a wide range of Time Signatures, 2/4/, 3/4/, 4/4/, 5/4,...any type of Time Signature that one could want. Others that are similar in Time signature variations are the Akai MPC series.
The Rhythm has a very Fat very Musical sound. I looked at the Korg Electribe series, but the deal breaker for me was the limited variations of Time Signatures....it only had the typical 4/4.
