Yamaha TG33

The TG33 sound module is a slightly enhanced key-less version of the SY22. It is a digital synthesizer that employs frequency modulation (FM) synthesis combined with low-fi (12-bit) AWM ROM samples. However, this machine is not low quality (especially for the electronica-oriented musician). Its preset sounds are a bit thin, however using the joystick controller you can manipulate and combine the 12-bit samples with the any of the 256 FM vector voices. This gives it a range of tone and sound that is as dynamic and mysterious as other vector synths such as the Korg Wavestation and ProphetVS.

Also available is a drum kit, effects, 16-part multitimbrality for layering sounds and 32 note polyphony! Definitely a powerful little beast that can create pretty nice sounds with lots of motion and character. With its wide range of sonic possibility, the TG33 has what it takes to create unique sounds that will keep you and you're music sounding a little different from the rest!

When i try to dump a soundbank to the TG-33, i get "illegal data" messages all the time. Could anyone help me please. I use midi-ox as dump utility.

I bought this box some 20+ YEARS Ago when they originally started marketing and selling these. I got to tell you all, this thing is as cool today as it was then. its built to last and I have had no trouble what so ever with it. One hell of a classic YAMAHA synth.......

An old man gave me one at a garage sale cause he didn't know what it was, came with memory card and all. This thing is awesome for atmospheric pads, I would say even better than an E-MU Morpheous, Its got a crisp sound thats both vintage and new all at once, fits well in the mix and built like a tank in Japan.FX are decent, never had an issue, wouldnt sell for less than $350. When you first look at it you think its only got like 48 presets, then you learn that there are hundreds of wave forms and pcms that are hiding, and you get to use these 4 times per voice. And the filter can Drooooooooone

It's amazing what you can pick up for 100 bucks these days. This thing just f****** rocks! Such a unique personality and tone. Somewhat lo-fi sounding but that's what I love about it.It's kind of hard to explain, but its rich and lo-fi the same time.I think the internal reverb and delay have something to do with that. They kind of remind me of my old lexicon LXP-1. Creepy to funky, this thing does it all. Love it.

This is a killer synth! Even in "Single Voice" mode you can create complex, evolving pads. I just uploaded a demo of this (good audio quality) on YouTube if you're interested - check it out:

The prices seem to be going up, so if you see one under $200 - go for it!
