Bob Moog Foundation Raffling One-of-A-Kind Eurorack Synthesizer
Post date:
The Bob Moog Foundation has announced its winter fundraising raffle and once again raised the bar regarding the prize. This time, participants can get their hands on a one-of-a-kind Eurorrack Synthesizer containing more than 50 modules by over 30 Eurorack manufacturers from over 10 different countries. The 16U cabinet housing these modules was custom-designed by Needham Woodworks for the Bob Moog Foundation and is made from Black American Walnut. Erik Needham revealed that the build features a new design with intricate inlay work and even a profile of Bob rendered in Oregonian Claro Walnut. The cabin even incorporates a custom Chromeosthatic system that is controllable via a web interface or through a 3U panel.
According to the Foundation, the system was inspired by Bob Moog’s original vision and packs a retail value of $20,000. In addition, the price also includes a copy of Patch & Tweak: Exploring Modular Synthesizer, signed by the author Chris Meyer and publisher Kim Bjorn. They will also have access to all Learning Modular online courses to get them started on mastering their new hardware. Finally, the prize includes a gift pack of t-shirts and other items from Luigi’s Modular Supply.

In addition, the keyboard interface is courtesy of Synthesizers.com while Luigi’s Modular Supply provided the cables and AVL Vintage Audio did the assembly. Chris Meyer, himself a vector synthesis pioneer and modular synthesis educator, stated that the system is a self-contained modular orchestra that also plays well with the outside world. After starting with a collection of Eurorack format modules inspired by the original Moog modules, keyboards, and rack units a carefully chosen assortment of more contemporary modules and utilities were added. According to Chris, the goal was for these to play multiple, varied voices at once while still sticking to the classic Moog sound. The lucky winner won’t have to first master how to patch a modular synth either as a semi-modular Moog MOther-32 was incorporated to ensure they could start making music immediately. Needless to say, whoever wins this amazing synth will have reason to celebrate this festive season.
The Bob Moog Foundation 2024 Winter Raffle began on Monday, December 2, 2024, and will continue until Friday, December 20, 202,4 at 11:59 pm (EST). The raffle is open internationally and tickets are available for $20 each. Discounts are also available for purchasing bundles of 6, 14, or 40 tickets. As with all the Bob Moog Foundation raffles the proceeds will be used for the benefit of projects such as Dr. Bob’s Soundschool, the Bob Moog Foundation Archives, and the Moogseum. The latter is especially important in light of the long-term financial challenges caused by Hurricane Helene.
