Array V4

Sinevibes has released Array V4, the latest version of their spectral sequencer effect plugin for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Array uses multiple crossover filters to split audio into eight frequency bands, each exactly one octave apart. Users can carve the audio spectrum in a precise rhythmical fashion as each band is run through a gate controlled by an advanced step sequencer. Since the crossover filters have a neutral character they don’t color the sound in any way. However, more radical spectral effects are possible thanks to the 8 band-pass filters with variable resonance and slope that Arreay has.

Array V4 features include a step sequencer with rhythmically correct swing, polymetric and polyrhythmic abilities, two-pole analog-style lag filters for variable gate transition smoothing, one-pole lag filters on all continuous parameters, and much more. Owners of Array, Array v2, or Array v3 can visit the updates page on the official Sinevibes website and request a download link for a few upgrade versions of Array v4. For everyone else, Sinevibes Array V4 is available for $29, but there is a free demo version to try out first.

 

VPROM 3.0

Aly James Lab has released version 3.0 of the popular VPROM software plugin. The original release dates back to 2014, when it quickly garnered fans for faithfully emulating the internal circuitry and filtering of one of the most iconic drum machines of the early ‘80s. VPROM also became a staple for many thanks to its accurate variable sample rate emulation of classic DACs and its ability to load swappable EPROM samples. With the release of VPROM 3.0, Aly James Lab describes it as a major upgrade that takes things to the next level in terms of both features and usability. 

Some of the highlights of VPROM 3.0 include enhanced circuit emulation, which now consists of OB DMX voice card features like VCA and filter tracking. In addition to the one pulse control of legacy mode, the voltage-controlled CEM filters have been upgraded with expanded controls. It also now features a built-in EPROM creator for generating custom EPROM binary files without any need for external tools. These are ready for use in VPROM or hardware drum machines. Users can now also import any .wav file to sample it like in the classic hardware days. Thanks to the new EPROM Management Panel, users can also manage all 14 custom EPROMS in one window while the new EPROM Library Browser keeps things organized. 

According to Aly James Lab, VPROM 3.0 is not just another drum machine plugin, but the closest thing to owning the real hardware while in many ways being even more convenient.
