This Is Not Rocket Science Ardabil & Switch Modules Introduced At Superbooth 2021

Post date:

This Is Not Rocket Science (TiNRS) announced two new eurorack modules at Superbooth 21. Called Ardabil and Switch, these interesting utility modules were designed to enhance any system. According to TiNRS, Ardabil is a block of connections that you can weave your signal through, while Switch is a little module that adds a layer of choice to your system.

Ardabil has precision adders, attenuverters, offsets, (inverted) buffered multiple outputs, and VCAs that are all connected. Switch has three choices on two paths, times two that you can control with "supersatisfying" clonky switches.

TiNRS stated that Ardabil shows you the threat of your signal in one integrated design with the overall pattern composed of six functional elements in rotational symmetry. They have kept the basic design relatively simple and the elements well-balanced. The Danzer filler pattern and multiple large yellow knobs on the module also add some visual richness. The module is 12HP wide and has a depth of 2mm, which makes it skiff-friendly. The technical specifications are as follow:

Precision adder

Your thread starts with two CV inputs that add together without changing their scaling.

Attenuverter

You can plug in any CV and let the knob scale your CV up or down -1 to +1 before it is added to your thread.

Offset

With this knob, you can add a fixed -5V to +5V to your woven signal.

Buffered multiple outputs

Threads into three buffered outputs; one of which has an LED that lights up when there is a positive signal. The fourth jack is a buffered inverted output with a LED that lights up when there is a positive signal (which is a negative signal in the other three outputs).

VCA

The CV input controls the volume of the audio input into the output. The CV input defaults to the signal from a buffered output.

The entire thread runs:

Buffered Outputs = Precision adder + Attenuverter + Offset

Inverted Output = Buffered Output * -1

VCA Output = Audio * CV

The Switch has two independent dual gang switches with three positions that add a layer of choice to your system. You can patch up to six things and select two at a time, twice, while every switch selects one out of three signal paths for both paths. The module itself is completely passive and will have no effect on the signal you run through it. It also uses the same Alpha lever switched found on the Fix IV by TiNRS. The Switch is 6HP wide and has a depth of 20mm.

TiNRS has also revealed that Ardabil will be 200 euros while the Switch will only be available as a set with the Ardabil for 250 euros. Both units should be available in December of 2021. Check out the Instagram post by TiNRS to see a demonstration of both these modules in action.
