Naomi BoltonAccording to his official website, Jean-Michel Jarre is releasing a brand new album titled Oxymore. The website describes Oxymore as an "immersive music project" and that the album is an homage to the late French composer Pierre Henry.
For those unfamiliar with Pierre Georges Albert François Henry, he was a French composer who passed away in 2017. Henry had a fascination with integrating noise into music. Jarre stated in a social media post that he had intended to collaborate with Pierre Henry for 'Electronica.' However, after Henry passed away in 2017, his widow provided Jarre with some stems of material that had been intended for use in the collaboration. While working around these soundbites, Jarre was led down a creative path that he says he may not have taken otherwise. Jarre also describes Oxymore as a tribute to the French way of approaching modern music, which he believes has influenced the future of electronic music worldwide.
The first single from Oxymore, titled Brutalism, is available now to stream or download from selected services. The full album is available on pre-order with a release date set for October 21st, 2022. Oxymore will be available as a CD album with access to the binaural version and a 32-page booklet or a vinyl album that also includes 2 180G vinyl.
