Aphex Twin and Novation Collaborates On AFX Station

Post date:

Novation caused quite a stir a few weeks back when they started sharing photos of massive billboards with what appeared to be the Aphex Twin logo in LA, Berlin, Bristol, and London. This led to a lot of speculation among fans that a new synthesizer collaboration between Novation and Aphex Twin might be in the works. It turned out to be partially true as the collaboration is actually for the Novation AFX Station, which is a limited edition of Bass Station II.

According to Novation the AFX Station, which was designed in collaboration with Richard D James, is a sound designer's dream. It features the same feature set as Bass Station II but comes with a pre-installed AFX Mode. This mode is perfect for sequencing and arpeggiation as it allows every key on the instrument to become a new patch. It can then be used as a powerful analog drum machine, flexible sound design tool, kill bass or lead module. Of course, the famous "A" insignia and purple reveals of the AFX station also ensure that it is going to be a sought after collector's item among fans.

128 new synth patches are also included with the AFX Station as well as seven new overlay banks from Noyze Lab, Perplex On, Richard Devine, r beny, and Lightbath. Even the limited edition giftbox was designed with custom artwork by long-time Aphex Twin collaborator, Weirdcore.
