New Releases Announced By Korg, NYSTRÖM & EMW Synthesizers

Post date:

Several new products are set to be released on the synth market soon, so here’s a quick round-up of the most notable ones.

Korg

Korg has announced the availability of KORG Gadget VR, describing it as a “future music production studio in VR space.” While Korg Gadget is not new, this marks the first time that the music production software with powerful gadget instruments will enter the world of virtual reality. It allows users to control gadgets that are arranged in 360 degrees as if they are surrounded by them.

Korg Gadget VR features the following instruments:

  • LONDON - Hypersonic PCM Drum Module
  • Miami - Monophonic Wobble Synthesizer
  • Kiev - Advanced Spatial Digital Synthesizer
  • Chiang Mai - Variable Phase Modulation Synthesizer
  • Kingston - Polyphonic Chip Synthesizer
  • Warszawa - Sophisticated Wavetable Synthesizer

The software is supported by the Meta Quest 2 and Pro headsets and promises an immersive experience, unlike anything that users have ever experienced before. Korg Gadget VR is available from the Steam Store (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2298070/KORG_Gadget_VR/) and MetaQuest App Lab (https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/6216364561780653/) for $29.99.

NYSTRÖM

Newly released by Albert Nyström is a generative drum synth called CRUM DRUM. It is a 4-voice drum machine with built-in randomization and probability-based sequencing. CRUM DRUM can create and manipulate rhythms using its internal random sequencer or externally via MIDI USB. The beat button can be used to generate new rhythms, followed by adjusting the probability to create continuous variations and increasing the randomness to modulate the sound. It features Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, and Bass (FM) for the four voices, and the character of each voice can be sculpted with eight parameter knobs.

The CRUM DRUM full DIY kit is available for £165.83 (Excl. VAT) (https://www.thonk.co.uk/shop/crum-drum/).

EMW

Electronic Music Works (EMW) has introduced the new T-Sequencer module, describing it as a “versatile and inspiring tool designed to ignite your musical imagination and push the boundaries of sonic exploration.” It is a unique Eurorack module that combines Turing Machine algorithmic sequencing with quantizer features.

The T-Sequencer module is available in black and aluminum variations from the EMW website for an MSRP of $186.
