Novation Overhauls Their Launchkey Mini

Post date:

DAW enthusiasts, especially those who favor Ableton Live, should already be familiar with the Novation Launchkey Mini. It is the most compact and portable MIDI keyboard controller in the Novation range and they recently made it even better with MK3 iteration.

The Novation Launchkey Mini MK3 isn't just compatible with Ableton Live, of course, but it was clearly designed to work best with this particular DAW. This controller is extremely compact, thanks to it's 25-mini-key MIDI keyboard, so it's one of the few controllers that you can actually fit in your bag. It also has a very durable feel for something this compact and can be powered over USB, so there is no need to lug around batteries or power bricks.

The most noticeable aspect of the new version is that the 16 trigger/launch pads that are situated above the keyboard are now in RGB. This makes it easier to keep track of which clips you have assigned to them in your DAW. Also new are the pitch and modulation touch strips that can now be found on the controller. Other notable features of the Mini MK3 is its new Fixed Chord Mode and Arpeggiator. Finally, it offers deeper integration with Ableton Live thanks to transport, mixing, and device controls. This is obviously great for laptop users who want to minimize the amount of fiddling that they have to do with the laptop while using the MIDI controller.
