With an identical voice structure to the AX73, the VX90 is little more than a rack-mount version. It is a MIDI equipped six-voice analog synthesizer with advanced digital controls and functions. Like the AX73 it has an auto-tune function and a really nice VCF lowpass/hipass filter and envelope section. The VX90's memory capacity holds up to 100 patches. It can be played polyphonically or in a stacked unison mode for that thick lead sound for your rave and techno anthems. A really cool feature of the VX90 is that you can plug the Akai S-612, S-900 and S-950 samplers in to it and run their samples through the VX90's analog filter and envelope sections.

I bought one a few months ago but MIDI stopped working. I bought AX80, and I find AX80 is better.

jeps stephan, its a voice problem. my ax 60 had the same problem (One of the voices was completly dead) every time i pressed the tune button it would completly lock up...

@Stephen Baron. If you press the autotune button on the front and it locks up it may mean that one of the voices has failed or is not working properly.

This is a great sounding synth, but has one problem, tuning. can anyone tell me how the midi tuning works. I have it linked to other vintage synth, and have tried modern ones, but every time I press the tune button it just locks up.

Can anyone help

This synth is clearly underrated. Not a synth with 1.000.000 routing possibilities and special FX, but it's enough for the most butter & bread stuff (Pop/RnB/Elektro). The handling is oldschool & simple, so it's easy to use. It sounds very alive and "smooth" to my ears and it has it's own unique character. Not "in your face" but "3-dimensional" and always fitting in the mix. It looks a little cheap, but it's definitely on the same level as my Korg Polysix.
