Korg • 900PS Preset Synthesizer

This is the rare Korg 900PS analog Preset Synthesizer. There seems to be some confusion about the naming (sometimes called PS900), especially since the face plate says "Synthesizer Korg Preset." The 900PS is quite a basic but very interesting monosynth. The 900PS definitely 'borrowed' some ideas from the Pro-Soloist. Instant selection of 29 different tone colors. From the sweet sound of a violin to the chugging of a steam locomotive. Sensitive soft-touch switches and plentiful controls provide a wide variety of effects including vibrato, repeat, even the harmonics you need for a Hammond organ tone.

The 900PS has 29 presets: Timpani, Electric Bass, Synthe Bass, Piano, Harpsichord, Shamisen, Banjo, Mandolin, Xylophone, Tuba, Bassoon, Horn, Cello, Trombone, Saxophone, Voice, Clarinet, Accordion, Trumpet, Funky Trumpet, Synthe Trumpet, Oboe, Violin, Recorder, White Noise, Scale Noise, Harmonics I, Harmonics II, Harmonics III.

You can edit: Portamento, Repeat, Vibrato: Speed/Depth, Attack Control, Sustain Control, Harmonics Control, Traveler Control (= filter cutoff), Pitch Bend, Forte, Volume.

There is also avery unique chromium rod 'touch bar' that runs the length of the keyboard in front of the keys to control: Repeat, Forte, Pitch, Vibrato, Portamento.

I own this little synth and it is a joy to play. Yes, it does have some limitations even compared to synonymous units of 1975. However, it does allow a fair amount of control and the tap bar on the front is a fairly unique feature to the synth world at its time. The tap bar function was more often found on some organs at the same period. My 900PS comes with a big chunky converter as it was originally set up for use in the British Isles. It plays gert and the sounds produced are quite tremendous! If you get the chance to find one of these don't pass it up! It is a fantastic part of musical tech history. Due to the rarity of this unit you can expect to pay somewhere around $400 for one in fair to good condition and up to $800 - $1000 for one in mint condition. Honestly, unless your a professional collector I wouldn't pay more than $600 but, if you can get one with all the manuals and it's 100% mint a price tag of $900 would be an honest one.

this synths sound quality will blow any modern digital synth out of the water if what you are looking for are fat anologe tones...... this unit basicly has preset mono anologe tones that would take ages to create on somthing like a korg mono poly, great design for its day and a hell of a weight. as other coments have said when you put it thru effects, whether it be rack units or pedals it put another slant on the whole sound produced, my prefered setup is using a reverd pedal a delay pedal and a wahwah... some sound.............................

I happen to own this one.. actually it's my first ever synth ( i've had dozens since) and unlike almost all of my other synths i still have it and would NEVER sell it.. although by modern day standards it's very limited, it has a very nice tone and the touch bar makes it unique, and gives you wide range of expression posibilties that i never found on any other synth since! sadly it's monophonic, but once sampled, the waveforms blend into chords beautifully! It will probably be very cheap when you find it in a little basement music shop... when you get the chance to buy a working specimen.. don't hesitate, get it while you can! it's a strange one but once you get the hang of it it's great!
