Waldorf PPG 2.V Image

The amazing and classic PPG Wave 2.V synthesizer is now available as a VST Instrument for your PC or Mac VST system! It looks, functions and sounds just like the original Wave 2.3 but with all the power, control and flexibility of a VST environment, such as Cubase VST! The outputs appear directly in the VST mixer, so effects and EQ can be applied like any other audio channel. MIDI tracks are routed directly to the input of the PPG Wave 2.V and all parameters are real-time controllable! Velocity and Aftertouch sensitivity is also available.

The Wave's most interesting feature was its ability to sweep through 64 waveforms in what PPG called a wavetable. Over 2000 waveforms are available within the Wave's 32 internal wavetables for an incredibly broad range of sounds, from animated pads and textures to bass, leads and effects. Polyphony now depends solely on the amount CPU power you have. You can layer up to 8 PPG Wave 2.Vs, each with 8 times multitimbral capability, allowing for almost limitless sounds. A new graphical page offers easy editing of envelopes, generators and the low-pass filter. A must have for any Cubase VST user!

Not the nicest sounding filters, but this VSTi has some beautiful, strong sounds in it. Also, it's multi-timbral, which seems to be a rarity in VSTi...Lots of fun. Sometimes the preset handling can be a bit tricky though...

I have to agree with Yuri. I have owned the PPG 2.2, 2.3 and Waveterm A and B, I still own my 2.3, one of the best synthesizers ever made imho. This plugin and the other 2.2 VSTi has very little of the characteristics which make the PPG so special. The sound here isn't warm, it is overly sparkly unlike analog, the filter is quite hurting to my ears and if you were to sit and compare the factory patches one by one, you would come to the same conclusion I did, this plugin and the real thing are two entirely different instruments. I like this plugin very much one of the best out there but not compared to a real 2.3, this synth is magic with a sound so unique it would be hard for any digital replication or algorithm to get anywhere close. When you have about $5,000.00 saved up, buy one (if you ever can find one!) and you will say the same thing! The original is one of the best synthesizers to have come out, ever.

If PPG Wave sounds like that IT MUST BE [beep] .
But I heard demos of Wave, much better than this VSTi completely different. The software is a joke not even a toy. [beep] synth. Totally crap.

It is possible to save/load your own patches but I've only gotten it to work with Cubase. When using Tracktion the saved patch will only come up in the slot and name of the preset I edited.
