Roland TR-727 Rhythm Composer

Roland TR-727 Image

The TR-727 is a Latin drum kit version of the TR-707. Very cool for tribal, latin and Indian house beats. Individual outputs and volume sliders for each sound, all the same great features and cool Matrix display and MIDI implementation as the TR-707. For programming, it features a shuffle and flam effect and its programming abilities are very impressive. But it does have its limitations, the only adjustment you can make to each drum tone is volume. Aphex Twin, Freddy Fresh, and Luke Vibert have used the TR-727.

A nostalgic piece, but if you're into the early Detroit stuff ala Model 500 / Atkis et al..then this is a must have!!

This little machine has been used on so many house and techno tracks I don't know where to begin.

UR used it on their song Panic (and probably a whole lot more)
Inner city used it on Good Life (Magic Juan's Mix)
Farley "Jackmaster" Funk used it extensively on "Dub Can't turn Around"
