A great and completely underrated synth for making trance, electro and industrial. Yes the presets [beep] but the trick to getting great sounds out of this is by using the layering feature, effects and a little EQing from a mixer. It may be a rompler but this synth can get very usable bass, leads and arps. Ive used this for many shows over the last few years and never once had a problem.

Great little keyboard. It is the one piece of gear I have never sold over 12 years of making electronic music. No it's not a Fantom or Motif but it has a ton of great bread and butter sounds, nice springey key action for programming drums and much better aftertouch than most other boards I've played with. The only thing I routinely feel it's lacking in is the number of outputs which can be a bit of a drag for live shows. Below's a video of me messing around with my Jx-305 (on the bottom) and a Juno 6. The drums and bass are all on the JX-305... Not a bad moog bass sound for a 15 year old ROMpler IMHO! :)

It is plastic and plastic and a bit of metal.
The sound is pretty great.

You need additional audio sweetening/effects and multi track it or better yet, layer it with other gear.

The drums are really awesome IMHO and the sequencer as good as most hardware. Mmake a song or set on this and save them inside or to the small card in the back slot-transfer the sequence to the computer or the other way . In a mix this adds nice stuff. All alone it may be a bit thin due to the filters. Low tech? Yes, compared to VA synths that run you 2-4 k. Layering is the secret! Multitrack! Over dub..with a mixer and a few other pieces this is easily a good part of a set up that is worth while.

For gosh sake do NOT depend on this for gigs as it is about as roadworthy as a dozen eggs in a back pack!

I still have mine after buying it on Ebay several years ago for $700! I think it's still worth it! It help me create all types of arrangements. I take the midi data and shoot it over to Logic or Sonar and record my guitar to it. If I don't want to deal with my computers I'll shoot a arrangement over to my VS-890 recorder and record my guitar. Right now there's one of these for sale on Ebay for $400!

"If your bag is dance, trance and rave"
That's pretty much all I've listened since 90's and this thing sounds like none of that (pre-1998 music). What brought me to this was the JX- name.

I don't have it but just listen to the filters in the demo. Wouldn't pay $25 for it. Room space is more valuable than that.
