Yamaha CS-10 Image

The CS-10 makes a great electronic, dance and trance musical instrument because it is analog, monophonic, has a really cool filter and is capable of warm bubbly analog bass and lead sounds. Its very simple design and layout with plenty of knobs allows for instant gratification! It has one oscillator and a switchable low-pass, band-pass or hi-pass resonant filter. The LFO can modulate the filter cutoff, volume, pitch and VCO. External audio can also be routed through the filter and there is portamento that stretches for one octave.

Although MIDI-less, the CS-10 does have CV / Gate which can be converted to MIDI using a proper interface, so the CS-10 works quite well both in the studio or for live performance. If you're into techno, dance or electronica then consider the CS-10 an inexpensive but worthy alternative to other more popular mono-synths. It has been used by Depeche Mode, Astral Projection, the Propellerheads and Moa.

Years before I had a CS-10 that I sold because I'm an idiot. OK not really, but I thought I will not need it anymore. When I went back to ProgRock I missed the CS-sound an I bought a CS-15 - a nice and rich instrument but I wanted back an CS-10 too. Now again I have one. Beautlful sound - a little diffrent to the CS-15, perhaps because of the diffrent parameters of the filterenvelope. Both Instruments have a clear sound (not to be compared to the MS-20) that is good for solo, space, effects, bass and OnenotePAD.
A wonderful 12dB Filter - pitty that it can not selfoscillate ! The Keyboard is better than you might think - better than MS-20, SH-101 or others.
I love both CS-Synthesizers an will never sell them again.

just go one from e bay. i paid £ 350 for it from japan. on top of that i also had to pay, £100 for postage to uk, £120 for uk custom charges and plus a parcell force handling fee. im also glad to report it was worth every penny of my hard earned dosh.infact i would pay double for a vintage synth of this quality. awsome..................................

one of the best kept secerets in dance music. what a raw funky sound that you get from this beast. it cuts through the mix with its one oscillator every time. think along the lines of soulwax and daft punk and you would be in the rite ballpark . ive tried all the cs series synths and their is something about the cs 10 that just does it on bass and lead. i think that the adsrs are the fastest and most snappy that ive heard out of any synth. i was really dissapointed with the yamaha cs15 on bass. i sold my cs 10 and bought a cs 15 for its extra oscillator thinking that it would be better. i was wrong!. so i sold the cs 15 on and had to wait another 3 months till i saw another cs 10 for sale that i could buy. pick one of thse babys up if you have the chance.
