Minimoog Model D Signed by Herb Deutsch Being Raffled By Bob Moog Foundation

Post date:

Pioneering synthesist Herb Deutsch recently celebrated his 90tht birthday. In addition to being featured in the Moog Music documentary, GIANTS, the Bob Moog Foundation is also honoring him with a fundraising raffle. Michelle Moog-Koussa, Executive Director of the Bob Moog Foundation, stated that they are thrilled to offer a rare fully-restored vintage Minimoog Model D signed by the legend himself for the raffle. She also said that the foundation honors Herb for his undeniable place in synthesizer history and added that he was the catalyst who inspired Bob Moog to design the very first Moog synthesizer. The pair started working together in the summer of 1964, and Herb's ongoing careful guidance and insight were a tremendous help for Bob achieving his pioneering work.

The raffle for this rare piece of history opened internationally on February 9, 2022, and will continue until March 7, 2022, 11:59 pm ET, or when all 4,500 tickets sell out. Tickets can be purchased from the official Bob Moog Foundation website at the cost of $20 each, six for $100, 14 for $200, or 40 for $500.

The Minimoog featured in the raffle is serial number 11,535 and was built at Moog Music's Cheektowaga, NY factory during the late 1970s. It was meticulously restored by revered synthesizer technician Wes Taggart of Analogics and features a new custom walnut cabinet enclosure. The Minimoog Model D is, without a doubt, one of the most iconic analog synthesizers of all time. The one featured in the raffle has an estimated value of $10,000, but the iconic signature from Herb Deutsch means that it is likely to only increase in value. The funds raised from the raffle will be used to expand the Foundation's hallmark educational project. Dr. Bob's SoundSchool as well as the Moogseum, located in Asheville, NC.
