QU-Bit Aurora Promises Alien Textures You've Never Created Before

Post date:

QU-Bit has recently announced their spectral reverb, called Aurora, that will offer a broad palette of sounds. According to QU-Bit, these range from lush caverns and whale songs to "alien textures you've never created before." They also believe that Aurora will invoke the same hunger for exploration that most musicians felt when they first touched a modular synth.

Aurora is driven by a phase vocoder audio engine, separating the input signals' time and pitch domains. The beautiful time-stretching tails or cybernetic metallic effects are all achieved by blurring these signals. QU-Bit also stated that no two patches sound alike since Aurora's sonic response depends entirely on the input signal. This lends it perfectly to an infinite world of surprise and discovery.

Aurora is available for pre-order at $359.00, but the first patch has already sold out. According to QU-Bit, the second batch is on the way, but anyone interested in Aurora might also be able to grab one from their local dealer. They have also promised that a portion of all Aurora proceeds will go towards helping the fight against shrinking ice caps and dwindling polar bear populations.

  • Time stretched tails, icy shimmers, and voltage-controlled whale songs
