Post date:

The period between 1963 and 1995 saw the release of numerous synthesizers that changed the musical landscape. These synthesizers had a huge impact on music culture and many of them are still coveted by fans. Synthesizer Evolution: From Analogue to Digital (and Back) is an upcoming book by Oli Freke that takes a closer look at synthesizers of this era.

The book is set to release on January 8, 2021, which is unfortunately just a little too late for it to be a stocking stuffer this Christmas. However, with the promise of a comprehensive and meticulously researched directory of every major synthesizer, drum machine, and sampler made between 1963 and 1995 it sounds like an invaluable resource for all synth fans. Along with the vital statistics and fascinatingly quirky facts each featured instrument is also illustrated by hand.

The author, Oli Freke, is a London based musician, artist, and writer who also launched the very popular "Synth Evolution" posters in 2017. After spending more than two decades in the music industry he knows a thing or two about synthesizers, so this 128-page book is sure to make a lot of fans happy. Synthesizer Evolution can already be pre-ordered online from Amazon and other stores, so don't miss out.

One book that will be available in time for Christmas is "Patch & Tweak with Moog" which is now available for pre-order worldwide and shipping expected in early November. Featuring a foreword by Hans Zimmer, this 200-page hardcover book promises creative patch ideas, sound design tips, professional artist interviews, and synthesizer techniques. The book will also feature some of the stories behind vintage Moog instruments and give readers an inside look into the Moog factory in Asheville, North Carolina. The Mother-32, DFAM, Subharmonicon, Grandmother, and Matriarch are all covered extensively in the book, which is priced at $39.99. Visit Bjooks for a sneak peek at the book and check out the official website for more information.
