Tasty Chips Releases New GR-Mega Video And Production Time Table

Post date:

Dutch company Tasty Chips has released some good and bad news for fans eagerly awaiting their upcoming flagship synthesizer, the GR-MEGA. According to Tasty Chips, the testing for the final casing of the synth took longer than expected, which meant that production lead time was also longer than expected. Shipping for the first units, which was initially planned for mid-April, the first units will now only ship in late May if all goes well. Tasty Chips apologized for this setback but stated that they feel that this is the definitive deadline. In a post, they revealed that they have put in orders for the PCBs and that PCB assembly should begin in about three weeks. They also published a timetable showing when buyers can expect to get their hands on the GR-MEGA.

The good news is that Tasty Chips has also released a demo video that gives a short and artistic impression of the synthesizer's look and feel. According to Tasty Chips, this video will be the first of many released while they prepare to build the first units, and each will be more in-depth. They have revealed that since the GR-MEGA is their top model synth, each will have a high-reliability 500GB drive that should last for many years. They have managed to get the internal storage running at proper speed and reliability, with the speed being much higher than that of the GR-1. In addition, Tasty Chips has used the time while waiting for the casings to arrive to perfect the GR-MEGA firmware.

According to Tasty Chips, they are building the first GR-MEGAs in small batches, after which production speed will be ramped up to keep up with demand in autumn.
