New Firmware Updates For Teenage Engineering TX-6 & Roland SP-404 MKII

New Firmware Updates For Teenage Engineering TX-6 & Roland SP-404 MKII

Post date:

Shortly after the release of their TX-6 Field Mixer, Teenage Engineering released their first firmware update, and it comes with plenty of highlights. We already covered what the TX-6 had to offer when it was first released, but thanks to the new update users can expect even more from this ultra-portable device.

Some of the highlights of the new update include USB mass storage disk record/playback for 24-bit 48 kHz stereo WAV files, including armed recording with automatic start on audio detect. It now also has extended MIDI support for synth mode to play the synth chromatically using MIDI notes from an external keyboard, and the stability of the USB MIDI host mode has been improved. In addition, parameters now keep their values until a knob is moved, making it easier to switch knob config without undesired behavior.

For the complete list of updates and fixes, check out the video below or visit the official website. TX-6 owners can also find the firmware update on the Teenage Engineering website, along with instructions on how to update.

Staying with firmware updates, Roland has also released a free update for their SP-404 MKII SP Sampler. It comes with a host of new features, but one of the most eye-catching is a new TR-style step sequencer. Users can input individual steps to program beats and use chromatic mode to record patterns instead of having to do so using resampling. In addition to three different modes for chromatic sample playback, Roland has also improved the time-stretching algorithm of the SP-404 MKII. Instead of faster or slower playback, there are now new modes for changing the pitch without altering the playback length and much more.
