Inphonik Releases Free Bitcrusher Effect Plugin

Post date:

Inphonik has recently announced the free release of their PCM2612 Retro Decimator Unit, which is a bitcrusher effect plug-in with a very distinctive legacy. The PCM2612 is based on the work that Inphonik did on the RYM2612 Iconic Synthesizer, which is their tribute to the Sega Genesis sound chip.

The PCM2612 Retro Decimator Unit is available in two form factors, with the box GUI suited for vertical displays while the rack GUI looking great on widescreens. The plugin offers 32-steps scalable 8-bit decimation, a dry/wet level knob, stereo/mono switch, and three different graphical interface scaling options. The output filtering of the plug-in can also be switched between "Legacy," which is modeled after the Sega Genesis Model 1 amp output circuitry, and "Crystal Clear," which is purely digital.

Head on over to the PCM2612 page on the Inphonik website to download the plug-in or to listen to some sound examples of it in action. The PCM2612 user manual is also available there as a free download to help you get started with the plug-in. PCM2612 is available as a 64-bit VST 2, VST 3, 64-bit AAX plug-in for Windows, 64-bit VST 2, VST 3, AU, AAX plug-in for macOS, and 64-bit VST for Linux. It can also be downloaded as a Rack Extension for Reason 10.1 and higher for Windows and macOS or AUv3/IAA app for iOS 11 and higher.
