Zeppelin Design Labs, the company that specializes in offering customers the gratifying experience of building their own gear, has released the Noisette Optical Theremin.

 This instrument allows users to make all kinds of crazy sounds ranging from creepy to atmospheric and spacey. It features two optical sensors to control the pitch and volume, which is done by shielding the amount of light that reaches these sensors. It also has a master volume knob and wave shape knob along with an onboard speaker and headphone or line-out jack. As with other Zeppelin Design Labs products the Noisette Optical Theremin is offered as a build-it-yourself kit. According to them it only has 18 parts that need to be assembled to the circuit board and some soldering is required. However, a 30-page assembly manual with over 100 assembly photographs is included to help with the process. The Noisette Optical Theremin is available now for $39.
