E-mu's new Planet Earth picks up where their popular Carnaval module leaves off. Polyphony has been doubled to 64 voices. And there is an all-new 32 MB "World" soundset with an amazing collection of authentic rhythms and traditional world-instruments. E-mu's exclusive SuperBEATs performance mode is here as well. Planet Earth also has up to 16 syncable arpeggiators, digital 12-pole resonant filters, 12 real-time controllers and more! Sounds can be tweaked and warped using its advanced synthesis architecture and effects processor. On the stage or in the studio, Planet Earth is the professional's choice for World sounds and ethnic percussion!

Every one of these ships with one 32 MB sound-set, but are expandable up to 128 MB via three additional slots for 32 MB expansion cards. These cards include (ranging from $249 to $395):

• 9061: Siedlaczek Orchestra 32 MB ROM.
• 9062: Pure Phatt 32 MB ROM - standard in Mo'Phatt, MP-7 and MK-6.
• 9063: Beat Garden 32 MB ROM - standard in Orbit 3.
• 9082: Protozoa 16 MB ROM - standard in Proteus 1, 2, 3.
• 9083: Definitive B-3 32 MB ROM - standard in B-3.
• 9084: Techno Synth Construction Yard 32 MB ROM - standard in Orbit 3.
• 9085: Orchestral Session Vol. 1 32 MB ROM - standard in Virtuoso 2000.
• 9086: Orchestral Session Vol. 2 32 MB ROM - standard in Virtuoso 2000.
• 9087: World Expedition 32 MB ROM - standard in Planet Earth.
• 9088: Sounds of the ZR featuring the Perfect Piano 32 MB ROM - standard in Ensoniq Halo.
• 9089: X-Lead 32 MB ROM - standard in Xtreme Lead-1, XL-7 and XK-6.

With these expansion options, you could buy a PK-6, then add the sounds of the Orbit 3, XK-6, and the MP-7... or any other combinations you may want. If you like desktop synths, you can start with an MP-7 or XL-7, and then add these same expansion card options to add Proteus, Orchestral, or the new Halo sounds to them. E-mu/Ensoniq's interchangeable sound cards and a variety of keyboard/sound-module options means that there's a model out there for everybody now.

wally I hope u have solve this issue ,
If not try to reset your unit ,im not sure for this specific emu ,but many Emu's can reset if you press and hold both arrows keys ,then while holding ,turn the unit on ,there is a menu there and you can ran diagnostics ,these will reset the dram for you. :)

Actually, a stock Planet Earth only has two dimm sockets, one has the Planet Earth sample ROM installed. In order to get additional sockets, you have to install an additional board, which also increases polyphony to 128 voices, adds 16 more midi channels (& an extra midi in), and I believe extra audio outs. Some modules in the line, like the Vintage Pro and and Virtuoso 2000, had the extra board already installed.

Wally,
Has it fallen had any knocks?
Inside the unit there are dimm slots so maybe a module may have come loose in the slot. Maybe, worth a look.
I just got a Mo Phatt and when i first turned it on there was a loud white noise hiss coming out of the outputs and Headphone output after a couple of minutes, so I went to the EMU site and downloaded the lastest OS and upgraded it via MIDI, now is working fine.
Other than that, try emailing EMU support, when I had to contact them once they were very helpful considering they had stopped making hardware modules a few years earlier.

what does this mean? how do I overcome it, please?

The sounds are very clear, amazing in my opinion. I love this baby . There is not other synth so complete with unique sounds.
