Korg MS-10

Korg MS-10 Image

The MS-10 is a cool & classic analog synth known for its great bass and percussive sounds. It was released by Korg in 1978 as an entry-level, simple monophonic single-VCO analog synthesizer. With the authentic look of a mini-modular its single VCO is patchable using standard 1/4 inch patch cords to the VCF and VCA. It really is a powerful little mono-synth with plenty of knobs and a compact 32-note keyboard. It is CV/Gate controllable. A very cool feature is its external input to filter which allows you to filter external sound sources! Following the MS-10 came the double-oscillator version, the MS-20. The MS-10 is used by The Orb, SkyLab, the Chemical Brothers, Astral Projection, Autechre, Juan Atkins, Underworld, Sneaker Pimps, Luke Vibert, JunkieXL, and Add N to (X).

agree with joe on the fact that the cs10 sounds better on bass than the ms 10. but i dont agree that the ms 10 looks better than the cs10. i think the cs10 wins hands down compared to the ms 10 on both looks and sound. the cs10 is more in line with the ms 20 as far as the kind of bass sound you get.

great little synth. brill on lead. maybe cooler looking? but not as ballsy as the yamaha cs 10. I really recommend this synth over most. if your looking for a bit of lead its great - for bass i would go for yamaha cs 10 ,korg ms 20 or maybe even the prodigy. Recommended !

I picked up my MS 10 in a messy mom and pop guitar store on the Jersey Shore for $250 in 1998 It had some rust, a dent and a after market cord. It has moved with me to NYC, Providence, Florida, and Colorado. I have gigged and recorded with it a ton and to this day it still works flawless, I have some scratchy pots but thats the least of my worries, great great great instrument if you can find one or a MS 20 reasonably priced I suggest getting it!

I have owned and operated a MS-10 since 1978, and it has performed flawlessly without repair for 30 years. It is an old friend and I will take it with me to the grave.

The MS-10 is my baby, all the way from 1978 to today. Still makes great helicopter replicas, cat fights (using mod gen), purple rain, stomping kick drum (again, using mod gen), and a beautiful, fat double square-wave that is warm and lovely. Add a phase shifter to the white noise gen for soaring jet plane effects.
