A Swedish company called Samplab has recently released a new plugin that allows users to edit the notes in their polyphonic audio samples. While this is not exactly a new invention, as Melodyne's Direct Note Access technology has been around for a while, it is still very useful. Unfortunately, the Samplab plugin lacks some of the sophistication of Melodyne, but the results are still impressive, and the fact that it is free doesn't hurt either.

It is a free VST featuring classic synth textures that have been created from the infamous Solina String Ensemble. LABS Synth Strings was recorded at Spitfire HQ by Harry Wilson and Hannah Roberts-Owen and features sampled modulation as well as processed pads.

Synthpex Convention Rescheduled For 2022

A number of conventions had to be canceled or postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, and this trend has continued in 2021. The latest expo to announce that their event has been postponed until 2022 is Synthplex, the "All Things Synthesizer" electronic music festival and gear expo.
