A Swedish company called Samplab has recently released a new plugin that allows users to edit the notes in their polyphonic audio samples. While this is not exactly a new invention, as Melodyne's Direct Note Access technology has been around for a while, it is still very useful. Unfortunately, the Samplab plugin lacks some of the sophistication of Melodyne, but the results are still impressive, and the fact that it is free doesn't hurt either.

If you love classic '70s string synths but are strapped for cash, then LABS Synth Strings by Spitfire Audio might be of interest. It is a free VST featuring classic synth textures that have been created from the infamous Solina String Ensemble. Fans of this synthesizer will know that it has been featured on numerous iconic disco and rock records over the years. LABS Synth Strings was recorded at Spitfire HQ by Harry Wilson and Hannah Roberts-Owen and features sampled modulation as well as processed pads.

The latest expo to announce that their event has been postponed until 2022 is Synthplex, the "All Things Synthesizer" electronic music festival and gear expo.

The cassette label Ultraviolet Light recently announced the release of a special album called Buchla Now. The album, which is a celebration of both their 5th year and 20th release, is a collection of new music created on synthesizers designed by Don Buchla.

The purpose of the raffle is to make the beginning of the Bob Moog Foundation celebrating 15 years of preserving Dr. Moog's legacy. The prize for this year's raffle is a fully restored vintage, archetypal Minimoog Model D synthesizer, which is highly coveted in its own right. However, the synth in question, serial number 6572, is also signed by the late Bob Moog himself, making it even more desirable for fans.

No matter how good your music is, it can always be more attention-grabbing when combined with some great visuals. This is why music videos continue to be popular and most bands make use of visualizers when playing live shows. Of course, using visualizers is not a new concept, and as far back as the mid-seventies was marketing their Atari Video Music. The AVM was an electronic music visualizer and while it wasn't that successful, it did pave the way for other innovators.
